Odor Control

Odor control is one of the most critical (and challenging) aspects of wastewater treatment. Nuisance odors from treatment plants can cause complaints from neighboring businesses and community residents. The odor also can negatively affect the plant workers. At ChemtronRiverBend, we work with wastewater treatment plants throughout the region to control their plants’ odor.

Odors can vary from treatment plant to treatment plant. The most common of odors can be described as “rotten eggs”, “ammonia” or “garlic.” These lingering odors are caused by hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, skatoles, etc. Our team evaluates the odor source and chooses the best method for complete odor removal.

For lagoon odor control, we often utilize Sulfaloc, a concentrated organic material that traps sulfide species that create the odor in wastewater. Once the sulfaloc has trapped the sulfide species, they are unable to go to the atmosphere and they are not detected. If your wastewater treatment facility is in need of odor control services, contact us today.
